I want to tell you about the morning I picked it up again. Not because the story is dramatic, it isn't. But because, for years, I thought I needed a dramatic moment to come back. I was wrong.
The weight of waiting
For two years, my Quran sat on the same shelf. I kept telling myself I'd start when life calmed down. When I had a real schedule. When I felt 'ready.' None of those things happened on cue.
"Allah does not burden a soul beyond that it can bear."
The smallest possible beginning
What changed wasn't my motivation. It was my expectation. Three minutes. One verse. That was the whole plan.
- Open it once a day
- Read one short passage
- Sit with it for sixty seconds
إِنَّ مَعَ ٱلْعُسْرِ يُسْرًۭا
"Indeed, with hardship comes ease."
Surah Ash-Sharh, 94:6
What actually happened
Within a week, three minutes had quietly become ten. Not because I forced it, because I wanted to stay a little longer.
If you've been away, this is your gentle nudge: the door was never closed. You were just waiting outside it.
